OXYGEN THERAPY

We teach oxygen therapy through the Divers Alert Network (DAN) agency, an important Non-Profit Organization (NGO) to support. This course meets the requirements for oxygen training for both Occupational and CAUS professional diving and it is required for all divers and topside support personnel.    

This course is offered to the professional DCBC Commercial and CAUS Scientific diver / dive tender / dive supervisor. Training can also be provided for recreational divers and non diving surface support personnel. Oxygen therapy is a WorkSafe BC requirement for the professional diver. The DAN oxygen course meets the requirements for WorkSafe BC and is taught in compliance with CSA Z275.5. 

DAN Oxygen is an in person program with a mandatory practical component.  In advance of the oxygen course you are required to complete an online theory component.   

You will learn about: 

  • Atmospheric gases 

  • Respiration and circulation 

  • Decompression illness 

  • Oxygen and diving injuries 

  • Oxygen safety 

You will develop the following skills: 

  • Oxygen equipment identification, assembly and disassembly 

  • Scene safety assessment 

  • Initial assessment 

  • Use of Demand inhalator valve, Non-rebreather mask, 

  • Use of Bag-valve mask, Manually triggered ventilator 

  • Creation of an Emergency assistance plan. 

Course Fee: $250 (Occupational), $150 (CAUS institution affiliation)
