Jackie Porteous CPA (C), B.Sc., R.P. Bio
Jackie has 17 years of experience, with a professional career spanning two realms. Jackie has worked as a professional biologist for 12 years and as an accountant for five years in both public practice and industry.
Jackie is detail oriented and process driven, which has allowed her to excel along a dual career path, where she holds a professional designation as Registered Professional Biologist (RPBio) through the College of Applied Biology (CAB) and is nearing completion of the practical experience reporting requirements to obtain certification as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA). Jackie has highly adaptable skills, where her ability to identify ‘patterns and processes’ allow her to quickly implement efficiencies for effective project management. Jackie is our go-to person for most of our operational requirements, where she has the skills to quickly understand internal processes, identify the necessary steps, and work in collaboration within our team and our clients for successful task completion.
As a biologist, Jackie leads our commitments with qualified laboratories for analysis of sediment and water quality, plankton and fatty acid, and benthic infaunal analysis. This includes laboratory engagement, data analysis and reporting. Jackie is familiar with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) requirements to successfully obtain disposal at sea (DAS) approvals, for Pacific and Atlantic (including Arctic) regulatory needs.
Jackie is also the Dynamic Ocean accountant, where she manages all aspects of our financial commitments, from administrative duties, through full-cycle accounts receivable and payable, payroll, corporate financial year end preparations and monthly financial closes.
